A post mortem is due to be carried out later today on the body of a man killed in a road crash in Co Monaghan last night.

A post mortem is due to be carried out later today on the body of a man killed in a road crash in Co Monaghan last night.

The elderly male driver of the car, who was the only occupant, was fatally injured in the collision on the main Rockcorry to Shercock Road at approximately 5pm.

The male driver and male passenger of the truck were uninjured, while the road remains closed this morning.

Gardaí at Carrickmacross are appealing for any witnesses.
