The ESRI’s chief economist has reiterated his optimism for the Irish economy in 2012
John Fitzgerald says Ireland will see a "vigorous recovery" in 2012 and that the economy could expand by as much as 5% a year between 2012 and 2013.
However, the economist heading up Ireland’s leading think tank warned that the recent spell of tough budgets is not over for taxpayers.
Mr Fitzgerald says Ireland should expect another tough budget in 2011 as the Government will likely need to raise taxes in order to shore up the country’s financial position.
