One-fifth of Leaving Cert students who appealed against their results have reportedly received a better grade following rechecks.

Reports this morning say the largest number of appeals were made in relation to the Higher Level English exam, with more than 10% receiving an upgrade.

Almost 30% of appeals in relation to Geography resulted in an upgrade, while around 20% of contested results in Higher Level Maths, Irish and Biology were improved.

Students who are unhappy with the result of their appeal can view their remarked exam papers, but they must apply to their school before this Friday.
