The construction industry has expressed outrage over renewed hikes in the cost of insurance.

Companies said they are facing impossible premiums for employers and public liablity insurance, with some firms looking at price rises of almost 100%.

George Hennessy, economic director of the Construction Industry Federation, said the increases are so extreme, some companies are being forced to trade without insurance.
