Scotland manager Berti Vogts believes Celtic supporters hold the key to victory over Stuttgart in the UEFA Cup fourth round, first leg against Stuttgart tomorrow.
The German recently watched the Bundesliga side defeated by Schalke 04 where fans in the new Gelsenkirchen Stadium appeared to intimidate Felix Magath’s side.
Now Vogts has urged Hoops fans to turn up the heat on the German side in the first leg at Parkhead.
Vogts told the Scottish Daily Star: “Stuttgart are a young team, an exciting team, but are inconsistent.
“I also know that German clubs don’t like the physical approach when they play against Scottish and English sides.
“Stuttgart can be powerful. They have talented players and they have battled through from the Intertoto Cup. But they are not as strong as Celtic.
“I watched them defeat Dortmund two weeks ago and they played very well but then they went to Gelsenkirchen this week and lost 2-0 against Schalke.
“For me, it’s no coincidence that Schalke’s new stadium is one of the noisiest in Germany.
“It’s more like a bowl than a football stadium and the noise generated by the Schalke fans, who are some of the most passionate in Germany, helped their team.
“If the Celtic fans can put the young players in the Stuttgart team under pressure throughout the whole game, and the team responds by working as hard as they usually do, then it will be a clear result for Celtic.”
