Bishop Reilly: Meeting with Government respectful and helpful

Bishop Colm O'Reilly has described this evening's meeting with the Taoiseach and Government Ministers as respectful and helpful.

Bishop O'Reilly joined the Catholic Primate of All Ireland Cardinal Sean Brady and other church leaders, to give the government their views on the proposed abortion legislation.

The Taoiseach's spokesman said the meeting has not changed the government's plans to introduce the legislation later this year.

Bishop Colm O'Reilly said that they have left the government very clear about their position on abortion.
