The second largest diocese on the island is getting a new auxilary bishop.

The second largest diocese on the island is getting a new auxilary bishop.

Pope John Paul II today appointed the Reverend Donal McKeown, President of St Malachy's College, Belfast, as the auxilary bishop of Down and Connor.

The diocese has 88 parishes and a Catholic population of 300,000.
