The long-running Eircom Park saga has taken a fresh twist this afternoon.
The FAI has refuted claims that they will be attending an appeal being heard by An Bord Pleanala within the next three weeks, in relation to the Association's plans to build the stadium. They were responding to reports in today's newspapers.
FAI Chief Executive Bernard O'Byrne confirmed that An Bord Pleanala had given them notice that an oral hearing will take place but said he expected it to happen near the end of March. The planning board are appealing South Dublin County Council's decision to award the FAI permission to build the stadium.
The FAI, already committed to a huge financial outlay for the construction, face a £500,000 bill for an appeal which could finally bring their Eircom Park dreams to an end.
