Larsson tips Rooney for the top

Manchester United‘s new signing Henrik Larsson has tipped team-mate Wayne Rooney to become the world‘s best player.

Manchester United‘s new signing Henrik Larsson has tipped team-mate Wayne Rooney to become the world‘s best player.

The Swede agreed a surprise three-month loan move to Old Trafford yesterday, taking advantage of the winter break in his homeland to return to Britain having previously had a successful spell with Celtic.

He is excited by the challenge of joining the Premiership leaders but it is linking up with Rooney which interests him most, having likened the England forward to his former Barcelona team-mate Ronaldinho.

“Rooney is an amazing talent. He has the ability to be the best player in the world,” Larsson told the Daily Express.

“He is like Ronaldinho – there is no way you can mark him out of a game when he is on form.”

Larsson will link up with United ahead of the trip to West Ham on December 17, then train at Carrington for a week before heading back to Sweden for Christmas, then returning to England a week later.
