Barrymore given all-clear after HIV scare

Michael Barrymore said he has tested negative for the HIV virus.

Michael Barrymore said he has tested negative for the HIV virus.

It was suggested the television star could have been infected by former boyfriend John Kenney.

According to reports, Barrymore said he took the HIV test six weeks ago, shortly after their relationship ended, in a statement issued by his lawyer.

The statement said: "He underwent an HIV/Aids test and the result of that test was negative."

Barrymore is in a rehabilitation clinic in Arizona after being released on police bail.

Last week, he was arrested on suspicion of possession of drugs and allowing premises to be used for drug taking.

Kenney is one of two men arrested on suspicion of murder after a body was found in a swimming pool at Barrymore's Essex mansion in March.
