Talks are due to get underway today on a redundancy package for workers at the Swissco plant in Little Island in Cork.

A sit-in protest by more than 120 staff ended last night following assurances that all outstanding wages would be paid.

The protest began yesterday morning after workers were told that the ready-meals company would be closing down immediately.

Union representatives will meet management later to begin negotiating redundancy terms.
