Two people were arrested for riotous behaviour today after rival gangs of nationalists and loyalists clashed.

Two people were arrested for riotous behaviour today after rival gangs of nationalists and loyalists clashed.

Motorists were urged to avoid the Broadway roundabout area in west Belfast after a lorry was hijacked and set alight in nearby Glenmachan Street.

Police came under attack from stones and other missiles as they moved into the area to restore calm. But there were no injuries.

Two men were being questioned today about the disturbances which broke out shortly before midnight.
