Taoiseach to meet Chinese Vice President

The Taoiseach Enda Kenny is to meet the Chinese Vice President Xi-Jinping today as part of his four-day trade mission to China.

Earlier today, Mr Kenny told Chinese business leaders in Shanghai that the Irish economy is recovering well and now is the perfect time to invest.

Up to 90 Irish companies are taking part in the trade mission to Shangai and Beijing with the aim of doing more business in China.

The Taoiseach is also encouraging Chinese business leaders to put their money into Ireland.

Meanwhile, an Irish company has announced plans today to expand their operations in China.

Recruitment firm Morgan McKinley already employs 70 people there, and is now aiming to increase that number to 200 over the next three years.

The Taoiseach is due to officially open their Shanghai office today.

Morgan McKinley's Chief Executive Pat Fitzgerald is optimistic about the company's future in Asia and is encouraging other Irish businesses to consider China as a base.
