A bomb blast at an Italian restaurant in Pakistan’s capital Islamabad tonight killed a Turkish woman and wounded 11 other people including a member of staff at the British High Commission and US Embassy staff.

The attack appeared to be the first targeting foreigners in a recent wave of violence in Pakistan.

Officials say the bomb might have been planted in the restaurant’s garden or thrown over a wall.

Interior Secretary Kamal Shah said a Turkish woman died from the blast.

US Embassy spokeswoman Kay Mayfield said embassy personnel were among the injured, but she was unable to say how many.
