Duffy is leading the way for new UK talent in 2008 with the best-selling album and single of the year so far, figures released today show.
The Official Charts Company said the Welsh singer is set to be the first artist this year to reach a million album sales with Rockferry.
The album has spent five weeks at number one in the weekly charts, longer than any other album this year.
The first six months of 2008 have seen debut albums from UK artists make their biggest impact on the charts in the last eight years, the Official Charts Company said.
Five other debut albums of UK artists reached number one in the weekly charts.
They are Amy Macdonald’s This Is The Life, Adele’s 19, the Ting Tings’s We Started Nothing as well as the eponymous albums of Scouting For Girls and Last Shadow Puppets.
For a massive 11 out of the first 26 weeks of the year, the number one album has been a debut by a UK artist.
Since 2000, there has only been one other year when UK debut albums have made a comparable impact on the UK charts.
In 2006, six debut albums from UK artists spent a combined total of 10 weeks at number one.
