Post mortem results due after fatal Sligo shooting

Gardaí are continuing to investigate the fatal shooting of a man in Sligo, with post mortem results due today.

Gardaí are continuing to investigate the fatal shooting of a man in Sligo, with post mortem results due today.

The victim, 39-year-old David Lynch, died at Sligo General Hospital in the early hours of yesterday morning in the first fatal shooting of the year.

Mr Lynch was shot at just after midnight on Saturday on Collery Drive in Cranmore in Sligo Town.

Two others, a 12-year-old boy and a 44-year-old man were injured in the attack, although not seriously.

Gardaí have said that they are keeping an open mind as to the motive for the shooting.

A post mortem has taken place on the victim's body, with the results due later today.
