Mobs of Macedonians have attacked the US, British and German Embassies in Skopje as the violence in the former Yugoslav republic continues to intensify.
Macedonian Slavs, who make up around two-thirds of the population, accuse NATO and the West of backing the ethnic Albanian rebels who are fighting for equality in the north of the country.
The attacks on the embassies last night came after the National Liberation Army attacked an army barracks in Tetovo, the country's second-largest city.
The rebels have also seized several checkpoints and surrounded four northern villages.
This week's resumption in fighting ends a two-week-old ceasefire brokered by NATO and the EU.
Peace talks had been ongoing since that truce was declared, but they broke down after Macedonia's ruling party rejected a deal that would have seen Albanian recognised as an official language.
The Macedonians fear that the rebels are trying to split the country in two and unite part of it with Kosovo and, ultimately, a Greater Albania.
