The AA is criticising plans for barrier-free tolling on Dublin's M50.

The organisation is calling the scheme, which is due to be implemented in August, as a 'Monster in the Making'.

A public hearing on the proposed system gets underway today.

Barrier-free tolling is designed to ease traffic congestion on the M50.

The National Consumer Agency also said the changes will lead to a 60% increase in charges for most drivers using the motorway.
