Two men are appearing before a special sitting of Gorey District Court this evening in connection with an attempted armed robbery in Co Wexford yesterday.

Two men are appearing before a special sitting of Gorey District Court this evening in connection with an attempted armed robbery in Co Wexford yesterday.

Two masked men entered the Permanent TSB in Gorey shortly before 1pm with what is believed to have been a handgun. However they fled the scene empty -handed after the panic alarm was activated.

Two men aged in their 20s were arrested a short time later while a search continues for a third man.

Both arrested men were due in court this evening.

UPDATE 9.45pm

The men have been remanded in custody to appear again at Cloverhill District Court next Tuesday at 10.30am.
