Man released, teenagers questioned after murder of Chinese restaurant owner
A 43 year-old man arrested by PSNI officers investigating the death of Chinese restaurant owner Nelson Cheung has been released unconditionally.
The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) said four males aged between 14 and 43 and two females aged 16 and 32 were arrested in connection with the murder in Randalstown, Co Antrim.
Mr Cheung, who ran the Double Value Chinese restaurant, had been travelling home from his business shortly after midnight on Thursday when he was stabbed after being intercepted by two vehicles on a rural road.
His wife, Winnie, was also in the car when the attack took place on the Caddy Road.
She managed to escape and was treated in hospital for knife wounds, and has since been discharged.
Police believe the couple’s car was forced off the road by two other vehicles and that they were approached by a number of people before being attacked and robbed of cash.
Mr Corrigan said: “Mrs Cheung has been released from hospital but is understandably anguished following the murder of her husband.
“My thoughts and the thoughts of my investigative team are with the Cheung family.”
Detective Chief Inspector Eamonn Corrigan said: “These persons were all arrested today. However I would still appeal to anyone with information about this murder to contact detectives.”
Police said they do not believe the killing was racially motivated, and renewed appeals for anyone with information to come forward.
