The Eiffel Tower, one of the world’s most famous landmarks, is celebrating its 200 millionth visitor since being built 113 years ago.

The 1,069ft tall tower draws six million visitors a year, officials said.

No single individual was formally identified as the 200 millionth visitor, but the milestone was reached recently, a City Hall spokeswoman said.

The tower was built by Gustav Eiffel for the 1889 World’s Fair.

It took 94 years to reach the 100 million visitor mark, but just 19 more years to double the total.

City Hall in Paris plans to fit the tower with 20,000 glittering lights by next June.
