Police in the North are investigating sectarian vandalism in Belfast overnight.

Police in the North are investigating sectarian vandalism in Belfast overnight.

It happened near the lower Newtownards Road in the east of the city at around 3am this morning, when police found a number of youths fleeing the scene.

A memorial and a number of premises in the area were damaged, with paint and sectarian graffiti.

Police in the area are appealing for calm and co-operation from the community.
