An investigation is underway into the circumstances surrounding a plane crash that claimed the lives of two people in Co Galway yesterday.
Seven others were also injured when the light aircraft came down as it approached the airport at Indreabhan.
Members of the Air Accident Investigation Unit have already carried out a preliminary examination of the scene and are due to a conduct follow-up inquiries this morning.
The plane was en route from Inis Mean to Indreabhan when the crash happened.
It is believed to have nose-dived as it approached the airport, missing the runway and crashing close to the airport terminal and hangar.
Three of the nine people on board walked away from the wreckage, while the two fatalities were pronounced dead at the scene.
The injured are being treated at University College Hospital Galway.
The passengers are understood to be businessmen who were attending a meeting of the Clifden Airport Company.
