Northern Irish students have again outperformed their counterparts in England and Wales in the A-Level exams.

More than one third of pupils in the North achieved at least one A grade, compared to just over one quarter in England and Wales.

Biology was the most popular A-Level, with more than 10% studying it.

It was followed by English, Mathematics, History and Religious Studies.

Girls again outperformed boys, but the gap has narrowed compared to previous years.
