A unionist councillor in Dungannon, Co Tyrone, is protesting against the council's decision to buy oil from across the border.

UUP councillor Joan Carson says it's unfair to local fuel retailers for the council to buy its oil in Co Monaghan.

The council will save up to stg£50,000 (€78,000) by allowing its vehicles to take advantage of lower cost fuel in the Republic.

Mrs Carson says the council should give a lead and support local hard-pressed fuel retailers.
