Tara Mines to resume production

The parent company of Tara Mines in Co Meath has approved a €15m-plus investment programme which it hopes will pave the way for a return to work at the mine.

The parent company of Tara Mines in Co Meath has approved a €15m-plus investment programme which it hopes will pave the way for a return to work at the mine.

Most of the 650-strong workforce was laid off when production was halted before Christmas.

Managing Director Eero Laatio says the company now hopes to resume production in June, with a return to work on a phased basis from next week.
