A quarter of the murders committed so far this year have been linked to orgranised crime, according to the Irish Independent.
The paper said there has been a rise of 26% in the murder toll from January to May compared to the same period last year.
Twenty-four people have been murdered so far this year with 15 killings carried out in the Dublin region.
Firearms, including a machine gun, were used in 10 of the incidents while knives were involved in seven deaths.
