More arrests made in connection with machete attack

Two more men have been arrested by police in the North investigating the murder of a 30-year-old father of two on Thursday.

John Mongan was attacked with a machete and a hatchet when a gang broke into his home off the Falls Road.

His pregnant wife was taken to hospital and later gave birth.

Police have said two men aged 18 and 38 were arrested at separate locations in Derry this afternoon.

It brings to seven the number of people arrested in connection with the murder.

One woman has been released while six men remain in custody.
