The National Emergency Co-ordination group says it's still on a high alert for the possibility that the current flooding situation will spread or worsen.
However, the Office of Public Works says water levels along the River Shannon seem to have peaked over the weekend.
For the first time in two weeks, the task force set up to respond and assess the flooding situation reported that water levels along the Shannon have not risen in the past 24 hours.
Persistent and heavy rainfall over the past week and a half, has left many homes and businesses in the west, south-west and midlands devastated by flooding.
Met Éireann says rainy conditions are forecast to continue for the next 6 days.
Jim Casey from the OPW, says despite the fall in water levels, there is still a need for the continued use of water pumps and flood defences in affected areas.
"I think that it's positive that there has been no rises on the catchment levels but people do need to be cautious and on their guard, they still need to pump water to protect properties and that will continue for some days yet and perhaps even weeks yet."
