French President Nicolas Sarkozy and Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi have cancelled a trip to Russia today to continue discussions with EU leaders over the growing debt crisis threatening the Eurozone.

French President Nicolas Sarkozy and Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi have cancelled a trip to Russia today to continue discussions with EU leaders over the growing debt crisis threatening the eurozone.

The 16 countries which use the euro say they are ready to take whatever steps are needed to protect the stability of the Eurozone from financial turmoil in Greece.

The proposals, the details of which are not yet known, will be presented to all 27 EU finance ministers for approval tomorrow.
