Dublin GAA officials have moved swiftly to respond to an after-match incident during last Sunday's NFL Division 2 encounter at Parnell Park between the hosts and Monaghan, which caused injury to Monaghan forward Tommy Freeman.
It had been alleged that Freeman was head-butted by a Dublin official after the game, which saw the table-toppers share the points in a hard-fought draw.
Dublin finished the game with 13 men following the dismissals of attacking duo Mark Vaughan and Bryan Cullen, both through second yellow cards.
Although GAA President Nickey Brennan had stated that the GAA was a leader in the area of health and safety, he also hinted that investigations into the Parnell Park incident were taking place.
Tonight Dublin Secretary John Costello issued a statement on behalf of the Dublin County Committee stating that they had identified the person who head-butted Freeman and that disciplinary action has been taken.
"The Dublin County Committee have investigated an incident during the Dublin v Monaghan National Football League game last Sunday in Parnell Park and have identified the individual involved," the statement read.
"The identity of the individual has been communicated to the Central Competitions Control Committee and disciplinary action has been taken."
However the statement failed to reveal the identity of the guilty party. It has been widely speculated that the person concerned is a member of the Dublin backroom staff.
Costello also outlined Dublin's regret over the incident and apologised to Freeman on the matter.
"The Dublin County Board, team management and the individual involved have personally apologised to Thomas Freeman and regret that the incident ever occurred."
