Geoff Wragg today warned that Asian Heights may miss his intended return from injury at Newbury on Saturday.
He fears the ground may be too firm for his four-year-old to tackle the Dubai Irish Village Stakes.
But he has high hopes of a successful campaign with Asian Heights, who has not raced since an impressive victory in the Predominate Stakes at Goodwood last May having split a pastern in a work-out just eight days before the Derby.
Saturday’s Group Three event at Newbury was pencilled in for his comeback but the colt’s trainer said at Newmarket: ‘‘I am worried about the ground and he won’t run if it is firm.
‘‘I am not saying he won’t go on the ground but it would be stupid to risk him on it as I don’t want to aggravate his injury he still has two screws in it.
‘‘If he doesn’t run at Newbury he will have to go for the Jockey Club Stakes here.
‘‘He is very, very well and I have been very pleased with his work. He is a lovely horse and we have got to go for the top races with him he could go for the Hardwicke at Royal Ascot or he could run abroad, it depends on the ground.’’
