The annual Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition gets underway at the RDS in Dublin today.

The annual Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition gets underway at the RDS in Dublin today.

Thousands of pupils from schools across the country are taking part in the event, which will be officially opened by the Minister for Enterprise Micheál Martin later today.

This year's exhibition is the biggest-ever, with more than 500 innovative projects on display, including 4D gaming systems and a phone charger for a bicycle.

The overall winner will be announced on Friday evening.
