Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has admitted that the club will have to cut costs after their Champions League exit.

Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has admitted that the club will have to cut costs after their Champions League exit.

Bayern are bottom of Group G after their 2-1 defeat by Deportivo La Coruna in Spain on Tuesday night and cannot even qualify for the UEFA Cup.

Rummenigge revealed that Bayern’s financial plans for the future will have to be revised.

He said: “We have to fill a big hole now.”

Manager Uli Hoeness claimed last week: “If we missed the UEFA Cup, that would mean a loss of income of 15 million Euros.”

Bayern earned €31.9m in the Champions League last season and have just been given the go-ahead to build a new stadium estimated to cost €300m.
