Some passengers have still to be reunited with their luggage four weeks after the Heathrow Terminal 5 (T5) opening fiasco, it was revealed today.
British Airways said that a few bags were still on their way to travellers caught up in the T5 troubles.
A BA spokesman went on: There’s always going to be a timelag getting luggage to passengers as they are spread all over the world.
“There are some people who have yet to get their bags as it takes time for couriers to reach them.”
At the height of the T5 debacle, Aviation Minister Jim Fitzpatrick told MPs there were 28,000 bags still not back with their owners.
BA experienced numerous baggage problems when the new £4.3bn (€5.4bn) terminal opened on March 27 and it was some days before the airline was able to run a full service of flights from T5.
Since then, BA has announced that the planned April 30 transfer of its long-haul services to T5 has been postponed to June.
BA has calculated that the T5 problems have cost it around £16m (€20bn).
