Ms Harney made the comments in her address at the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation Annual conference in Co Meath today - where she was met with a silent welcome.

Delegates at the conference unanimously passed a motion yesterday recommending that the 43,000 INMO members reject the public sector pay and reform deal.
