HSE plan to take over Dublin ambulance service 'insane'

A plan by the HSE to take control of Dublin's ambulance service is being slammed.

The service is currently provided by Dublin Fire Brigade which provides coverage for 40% of the country.

An internal report by the Health Service Executive wants to take over the fire brigade's remit on a phased basis by the end of 2015.

Irish Fire and Emergency Services Association, National Secretary, John Kidd says it is the wrong move and "insane".
