Jockey banned from driving after claim of 'sleep driving'

A Waterford jockey has been banned from driving for nearly two years, after using sleepwalking as an excuse for drink driving.

Tom Queally, originally from Dungarvan, was more than twice over the limit when he was found asleep behind the wheel of his BMW in March.

The 30-year-old's lawyer said he was "morally totally innocent", and claimed the law needed to be changed to recognise "sleep driving" as a condition.
