Japanese superstar Deep Impact is on target to work at Longchamp on Wednesday prior to his bid for glory in the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe at the Paris venue on October 1.
The four-year-old has tasted defeat only once in an 11-race career, in which he has won five Grade One contests over distances ranging from 10 furlongs to two miles.
Having spoken to a representative at the Japanese Racecourse Association’s base in France, Shuji Kashiwada – general manager of the JRA’S London office - outlined work plans.
He was also able to confirm that Yutaka Take, who has partnered the colt throughout his career, will take the reins for the workout.
“Deep Impact will come on to the track at Longchamp on Wednesday and he will probably work at 10am,” he explained. “Yutaka Take will be on board.”
Deep Impact has not been seen since running out a facile winner at Kyoto in June but has reportedly settled in well at Carlos Laffon-Parias’ yard ahead of his upcoming test.
