Tánaiste Eamon Gilmore has said that Europe's monitoring of Ireland's economy - despite our bailout exit - does not infringe on our sovereignty.
The EU and European Central Bank will conduct twice-yearly checks on our progress from when we leave the programme next month - and determine if we'll be able to pay off our debts.
Some observers say that means Ireland still will not have full control of our finances.
Tánaiste Gilmore says we will be no different from any other eurozone country.
"There are conditions of membership of the euro, which we will have to comply with, the same as every other European member state," he said.
"What is happening is that we are moving from, if you like, emergency funding to being a normal member of the euro group, subject to the normal rules and conditions of euro membership."
