Tennis: Sampras picked for US Davis Cup team

Pete Sampras and Andy Roddick have been picked for the US Davis Cup team.

Pete Sampras and Andy Roddick have been picked for the US Davis Cup team.

The US play against Slovakia in the first round of the cup on February 8.

Todd Martin, Mardy Fish and James Blake were also named by the US Tennis Association.

US captain Patrick McEnroe will have to settle on four players by February 7.

Sampras and Roddick are expected to play singles, with the doubles team coming from among the other three players.

Sampras will be playing in his 15th Davis Cup series, but his first since April 2000.
