Taoiseach will have to appear before Oireachtas committees regularly

The government has approved a series of Oireachtas reforms.

Under the changes, the Taoiseach will have to appear before the chairs of the Oireachtas committees on a regular basis.

The changes also include the introduction of a secret ballot for the election of the Ceann Comhairle.

The Taoiseach is claiming the moves will shift power from government to the Oireachtas.
