The body of a man found in a slurry tank in Co Tipperary last month has been identified.

The body of a man found in a slurry tank in Co Tipperary last month has been identified.

It is that of missing local man Bobby Ryan.

The 52-year-old had been missing since June 2011, and was not found despite numerous searches and appeals.

His remains were discovered two weeks ago to the rear of a house in Fawnagown.

The Irish Independent reported that the confirmation of his identification will now allow gardaí to set up a murder inquiry.
