A 19-year-old man has died following a crash in Co Roscommon this evening.

A 19-year-old man has died following a crash in Co Roscommon this evening.

The man was fatally injured when the car he was a passenger in struck a wall on the R368 near Four Mile House at around 8pm.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was removed to mortuary at Roscommon Hospital. Three other males (understood to be in their 20s) who were also travelling in the car at the time were taken from the scene by ambulance to Hospitals in Galway, Sligo and Mullingar.

The extent of their injuries is not yet known.

The road is closed to traffic and Garda forensic collision investigators are at the scene. Local diversions are in place.
