A father died of suspected swine flu just 10 days after his wedding.

Martin Clorley married Nicola Bartley, 39, on December 16. But the 37-year-old, from Wrexham, North Wales, fell ill before Christmas and was eventually taken to hospital on St Stephen's Day.

The father of two young children, Imogen and Ella, and stepdaughter Darryl, 18, died a short time later.

Paying tribute Nicola, who works at a chemist, told the Wrexham Evening Leader: “He was a big-hearted man who doted on the children. I’ve got a pile of wedding cards and another pile of sympathy cards.

“How can somebody get the flu and then be dead? He was a healthy person. I want answers but really, nothing will help.”

An inquest has been opened and adjourned by the North Wales Coroner.
