The High Court has set July 17 as the date for the judicial review into the powers of the Abbeylara Dail sub-committee as it continues its inquiry into the death of John Carthy at Abbeylara last year.

More than 30 members of the Gardai objected to the powers of the committee to compel the attendance of witnesses and to direct the production of documents before the committee.

The review will be carried out by the unusual method of a divisional court, consisting of three judges, to hear the case.
