PSNI appeal for information on Belfast device

Police in the North investigating the attempted murder of police officers in South Belfast on Monday night have issued a fresh appeal for information.

A device fitted with a tripwire was left on the gate at a wooded area at the Annadale Embankment which could have killed the officers.

Detectives are asking anyone who was in the area between the hours of 8pm and midnight on Monday to get in touch with them.

They say they are particularly looking to speak to a number of youths in connection with the incident.

Detective Inspector Chris Wilson said the young people have done nothing wrong but could help with inquiries.
