Contactless card transaction limit increases to €30

Customers can now spend twice as much on each contactless card transaction at shops and pubs.

From today the limit increases to €30 per transaction.

Permanent TSB has seen two million contactless transactions in just six months.

Head of Current Accounts at Permanent TSB Lorraine Peters said that the increase would be welcomed by bank customers across the country.

“Customers of all the banks are really taking to contactless payments. We have seen 2 million contactless transactions on cards since we introduced the facility six months ago and we believe that this number will increase significantly now that the amount you can pay for by this method is increasing.”

Ms. Peters said that Permanent TSB now accounted for an estimated 20% of all contactless transactions carried out in the Irish market.
