Athlone will be by far the happier as the sides must meet again at St. Mel’s Park on Tuesday night after Harps failed to convert their chances in tonight’s all-First Division FAI Carlsberg Cup third round clash at Ballybofey.

Athlone keeper Danny O’Leary was the hero for Athlone as he kept their first clean sheet in nine matches with several good saves.

The pick of them came midway through the second half when he dived full stretch to turn out a stinging 25-yard drive from Harps’ midfielder Michael Funston.
