Bus drivers could face fines for being rude

New rules for bus companies could see drivers being fined for being rude.

The National Transport Authority has told Bus Éireann and Dublin Bus that fines will be applied if buses are dirty, if the first and last services of the day leave earlier or later than scheduled and if drivers are not polite.

According to the Irish Independent, it is part of new contracts with the company and also calls for complaints on Twitter to be responded to within one hour.

Up to 10% of each company's routes are to be tendered to the private sector in 2016 under the new rules.
